Beautiful Jefferson County is located on the northern end of the Olympic Peninsula, west and across the Puget Sound from Seattle. Population is approx. 26,000 and the county is approx. 480 sq. miles. Historic Port Townsend is the county seat.

Department Information

Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is one of the oldest in the State of Washington. The department currently has approx. 60 employees, both commissioned and civilian. Our 57 bed Jail facility is in Port Hadlock and has an average daily population of 48 inmates, both felony and misdemeanor, pre and post conviction. The Corrections staff work 12 hour shifts and are on for three days, off for three, on four days and off for four. We also provide Courtroom security for our Superior and District Courtrooms at our Courthouse in Port Townsend, 10 miles north of the Sheriff's Office.

Vacancies are filled by Civil Service "rule of three" with the top three candidates forwarded to the appointing authority for background investigation & selection as vacancies occur.

Salary Information

Salary range for Corrections is $25.32 - $32.32

**Signing Bonus for entry level Corrections Deputy $10,000, Lateral $15,000**
