Salary range $ 5,184 to $6,047 with educational incentives available.  The City of Elma provides a competitive benefits package which includes, but is not limited to, medical, dental, and vision coverage.  Applications for Lateral Level only are available at the Elma City Hall, 202 W. Community Information

Elma has also been called the "Gateway to the Olympic Mountains & Pacific Beaches" which affords lots of recreational activities such as hiking, fishing, and hunting. Elma is located in Grays Harbor County about 30 miles west of Olympia and about 30 miles east of the coast. Elma is a growing rural city with a close knit atmosphere which provides affordable housing. Close enough to the 1-5 Corridor to commute and far enough away to provide a rural family environment. The Elma Schools have experienced teachers, small class sizes, and many advanced educational opportunities for children.

Department Information

The Department is a proactive, community oriented, full service agency. We have assigned patrol vehicles and take home car program. We provide continuous advanced training opportunities and educational incentives. Patrol Officers work 8 and 10 hour shifts. Elma Police Officers have opportunities to conduct thorough investigations and participate in active criminal interdiction through traffic enforcement activities.

Hiring Status

The eligibility list is a continuous listing and maintained as scores are received from PST with oral board interviews conducted on an as-needed basis. Vacancies are filled by Civil Service "rule of five" with the top three candidates forwarded to the appointing authority for background investigation & selection as vacancies occur. Once certified, the list will be in effect for one year and may be extended for one additional year.
