Department Information

The DuPont Police Department (D.P.D.) is a values-based, family-first, destination police agency comprised of a supportive, dedicated and ethical team of law enforcement professionals. We are seeking career-oriented team members who will live our core values of DUTY, PROFESSIONALISM and DEDICATION while serving in a supportive community, within an organizational culture of leadership and ethics at all levels.

DPD is a full-service, modern police agency consisting of a uniformed patrol division including motor units and K9, an investigations section, various training instructors and numerous collateral duties and special assignments. The department has a robust command team that includes a Chief, Deputy Chief, Civilian Manager, Sergeants and Corporals. DPD offers excellent city benefits, competitive pay, 4-on/4-off 12-hour shifts for patrol, a take home car program and educational pay incentives for Associate Degrees and higher.

The City of DuPont is located along the I-5 corridor, 15 minutes south of Tacoma and next to the west coast’s largest military installation, Joint-Base Lewis McChord (JBLM). DuPont is home to just under 10,000 residents, most of whom are military personnel, veterans, and other working class families. The community has schools, businesses and numerous community events throughout the year.

While smaller in size, in reality, DuPont's location requires progressive, professional and proactive police services. Ideally located for recreation and commerce, other communities long for DuPont's combination of natural beauty, convenience and growth. With this good fortune, however, comes many of the same policing issues which impact larger metropolitan areas. The paramount goal of the DuPont Police Department is to strike the right balance between having a fully prepared, modern police force ready to address any crisis, while retaining a culture of "personal policing" where positive, ethical and individual relationship-building is the bedrock of all that we do.
