Department Information

The City of DuPont Fire Department has served the citizens of DuPont, WA since April 12, 1951. We are responsible for Fire and EMS services to The City of DuPont’s 5.9 square miles, bordering Puget Sound coastline, and adjacent rural areas. The department serves a residential population just over 10,100 with a growing number of commercial and residential developments.

The City of DuPont is looking for motivated individuals who would like to be at forefront of this exciting opportunity.

The staff for the City of DuPont and its Fire Department strive to serve our community through a shared dedication of excellence, respect for diversity, and a commitment to those we serve. The Fire Department works a 48/96-hour shift schedule (including events, call back, deployments, etc.), operating out of one centrally located fire station and providing emergency and non-emergency response to fire, EMS, rescue, hazardous materials, wildland incidents, citizen assists and many other types of calls. The department currently runs approximately 950-1000 calls per year, of which is about 80% medical (-70% of those medical calls are patients that require paramedic intervention). The Department participates in a regional mutual aid system with neighboring agencies. Private ambulance providers also respond as needed provide paramedic level care.

The eligibility list is a continuous listing and maintained as scores are received from PST with oral board interviews conducted on an as-needed basis. Vacancies are filled by Civil Service "rule of three" with the top three candidates forwarded to the appointing authority for background investigation & selection as vacancies occur.

Salary Information

The Firefighter EMT is a full-time, FLSA non-exempt position. The hourly rate for this position is $29.24, plus excellent benefits. Note: the annual pay rate listed above is based on an annual work schedule of 2,560 hours, as per the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the City of DuPont and the DuPont Professional Firefighters (IAFF Local 3829) found here: Firefighter IAFF Local 3829 CBA.

To be considered, candidates must earn a minimum score of 80% on the Public Safety Testing (PST) Firefighter Written Exam and designate DuPont Fire as a department of choice through PST. Candidates who do not meet both requirements will not be considered.

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of Civil Service hiring requirements, a background investigation, psychological evaluation, medical examination, drug screening, and verification of all required certifications.

Any falsification or omission of information or certifications may result in removal from the eligibility list or termination of employment.
