The City of Coeur d’Alene has a population of approximately 55,900 and is located in the Northern Idaho Panhandle. Coeur d’Alene offers a true, four-season climate and is a resort city on the northern shore of scenic Lake Coeur d’Alene.

Hiring Status

Coeur d'Alene Police Department - Police Officer has 10 vacancies.

We are establishing a continuous Entry-Level Police Officer eligibility list.

Salary Information

  • Minimum $28.87/hour | $60,050 - Maximum $44.81/hour | $93,204
  • $28.87/hour:  Police Officer recruit wage while attending the POST Academy
  • $30.30/hour after successful completion of the academy
  • Minimum to Maximum is 5 years with overall average evaluations.
  • Lateral Police Officer Program:  based on previous law enforcement service, lateral can be brought in $31.82 per hour up to $42.67 per hour.

Additional pay available for educational incentive, shift differential, holiday pay, etc.

Use or possession of marijuana, cannabis, hashish, hash oil, and THC in both synthetic and natural forms within one (1) year prior to the scheduled Coeur d’Alene Police testing dates you are considering applying for.

Use of marijuana, cannabis, hashish, hash oil, and THC in both synthetic and natural forms on a regular or confirmed bases within five (5) years prior to the scheduled Coeur d’Alene Police testing dates you are considering applying for.

Use of marijuana, cannabis, hashish, hash oil, or THC in synthetic and natural forms, whether charged or not, if such use occurred while employed as a law enforcement officer, in a prosecutorial position, or in a position of public safety, regardless of when the use occurred.  

Any illegal use or possession of any Schedule 1 through Schedule VI controlled substance, as defined in Sections 37-2705 through 37-2713A, Idaho code, excluding marijuana, within five (5) years prior to the scheduled Coeur d’Alene Police testing dates you are considering applying for. This includes, but not limited to, illegal substances such as methamphetamine, heroin, cocaine, opiates, morphine, PCP, or amphetamines.
