Law Enforcement and Corrections Written Exam

This event is the law enforcement and corrections written exam only. Required physical ability tests (PAT) must be scheduled and administered separately. If you are testing for an agency that requires the PAT through Public Safety Testing, it must be completed within 180 days of the written exam.

Please allow 4–5 hours to complete the written exam.

  • Arrive early: Give yourself time to check in and get settled before your scheduled start.
  • Please allow 4–5 hours to complete the written exam. If you are scheduled for a same-day physical ability test (PAT), please plan for an additional 2–3 hours. Please note: end times may vary based on the number of candidates, weather, and other circumstances.
  • Bring your photo ID: A valid government-issued photo ID is required for check-in.
  • Please bring your Applicant Liability Waiver and Release Agreement, notarized, to the test site (written testing only). This document is available in the My Downloadable Products section of your PST account.
  • Prohibited items: Backpacks, purses, bags, hats/caps of any kind, sunglasses, electronic devices of any kind (including, but not limited to, PDAs/MP3 players), smart or analog watches, activity trackers, calculators, cellular phones, cameras, smart glasses, mechanical writing utensils, beverage/water bottles with labels, and any other items deemed inappropriate by test proctors. Please do not bring prohibited items into the testing area.
  • Scratch paper, pencils, and erasers will be provided by the test proctors.
  • Required PAT events are scheduled and administered separately. If you are testing for an agency that requires the PAT through Public Safety Testing, it must be completed within 180 days of the written exam.
