Thurston County Sheriff's Office anticipates hiring a number of positions throughout 2024. Eligibility lists of qualified candidates are maintained to fill openings as they become available.

Basic Corrections Academy Certification Yes, must have a current Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission Corrections Deputy Certification or equivalent certification from another state-approved academy and have the ability to obtain an equivalency certification within the first twelve (12) months of employment by meeting the standards of the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission.
Prior Experience Requirement Yes, must have at least 12-months continuous work experience and successfully completed any probationary period as a full-time, paid, Corrections Deputy with general corrections experience.
Other Have successfully completed the testing process and been hired by another jurisdiction from a civil service commission certified eligibility list or other like process.

From the most recent corrections agency, the applicant must have no more than a 12-month break in service.Must meet the Sheriff's Office Standards of Physical Fitness and Employment Standards.
