IMPORTANT CPAT INFORMATION

- Applicants must possess valid Candidate Physical Abilities Test (CPAT) credentials dated within the past year**(see below).  

- Typically a list of Firefighter/Paramedic scores will be pulled on or about May 1 and November 1 of each year for additional testing/further consideration. This could be done more often if staffing needs dictate. 

- CPAT results from Public Safety Testing (PST) or National Testing Network (NTN) are both acceptable to Lacey Fire District #3. Olympia and Tumwater Fire Departments will ONLY accept a CPAT from Public Safety Testing. 

- If you registered to test for other PST agencies, you must complete a PST CPAT as required by those agencies. 

- Submit proof of your current CPAT certification to Thurston County Medic One at the address below. There is no need to contact each individual department.  Please send to:

Thurston County Medic One provides ALS oversight for three (3) agencies: Lacey Fire District #3, Olympia Fire Department, and Tumwater Fire Department in Thurston County. Following successful completion of the Public Safety Testing process, candidates may be invited to the Medical Program Director's process, which consists of a written protocol test and oral board. Once this process is complete, the names of the successful candidates will be provided to Lacey Fire District #3, Olympia Fire Department, and Tumwater Fire Department for additional evaluation.

Lacey, Olympia and Tumwater typically will pull a Firefighter/Paramedic list/scores in the spring and fall of each year for additional testing/further consideration.  This may be done more often depending on the needs of each agency.

If your CPAT certification is through Public Safety Testing, you do not need to submit additional verification.

**So, if your CPAT certification is more than one year old, you must update it to maintain eligibility for our fire departments.  If you update your CPAT with PST, PST will notify TCMO.  If you update your CPAT with NTN, you must provide updated credentials directly to TCMO as noted above.
