Important Information

The Goldendale Police Department is currently accepting applications for full time entry/lateral police officers. There  will be 1 position open . Lateral applicants must have worked on a full-time basis for at least 12 months of the last 24 months as a commissioned Law Enforcement Officer. Post-Police Academy Graduates will be considered.

Lateral applicants must also have a current Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission Basic Law Enforcement Academy Certificate or equivalent certification from another state approved academy with an understanding they must achieve certification by the Washington State Equivalency Academy within one year of employment.

Applicant must have the ability to pass a background investigation, a psychological evaluation, and a polygraph. Applicants will be contacted with the date, time, and location of oral board interviews.


Community Information

Small hometown atmosphere with multiple markets, shops, businesses and schools. There are multiple tourist attractions such as the open to the public Observatory, historical homes, and city parks. Has the Little Klickitat River running through it. Goldendale is the largest city in Klickitat County and is the county seat.

We are a department with 9 full time police officer positions and two administrative record/evidence assistants. Each officer is assigned a take home patrol vehicle. Duty schedule consist of 4 ten hour shifts with 3 days off.
