Department Information

Gig Harbor Fire & Medic One is a progressive, all-hazard, fire district committed to exceptional internal and external customer service. The District serves a growing community of over 50,000 residents from five (5) staffed stations, covering approximately 50 square miles and is made up of 134 full time employees responding to 6,134 alarms in 2020. In addition to fire response, the District has an exceptional Medical Division that treats and transports both ALS and BLS patients. The District also has Technical Rescue, Hazardous Materials, and Wildland Firefighting Teams. Hiring Status

Gig Harbor Fire & Medic One anticipates hiring several entry level firefighters and lateral firefighter-EMT/Paramedics in 2022. We are creating an eligibility list for entry level and lateral firefighter positions. Last day to apply/test is Sunday, July 11, 2021.


  • Entry level firefighter - To apply, complete Public Safety Testing's written and CPAT tests by 11:59 p.m., Sunday, July 11, 2021. Candidates who are selected to move forward in the hiring process will receive an email with instructions to submit application materials during the week of July 12, 2021. 
  • Lateral firefighter-EMT/PM applicants are exempt from the PST testing process. Please review the job announcement on our website for minimum qualifications and how to apply.


CPAT - we will accept valid CPAT certifications from other certifying agencies such as the National Testing Network. Proof of certification will be requested when candidates are invited to move forward in our hiring process.

  • Entry Level Firefighter $69,034 - $98,619 DOE/DOQ
  • Lateral Firefighter-EMT $78,895 - $98,619 DOE/DOQ
  • Lateral Firefighter-Paramedic $86,785 - $108,481 DOE/DOQ

You must possess a valid Candidate Physical Abilities Test (CPAT) completed between July 12, 2020 through July 11, 2021.
