Cowlitz County Fire District 6 covers 100 square miles and serves approximately 10,000 citizens.

Department Information

Cowlitz County Fire District 6 is a combination department with 9 full time paid employees and 25 volunteers. There is 1 FF/Paramedic and 1 FF/EMT on a rotating 24 hour shift 7 days a week/365 days a year. We have 1 main fire station and 1 apparatus/training building, 3 ambulances, 2 tenders, 1 engine, 1 squad, 1 brush, 2 command vehicles, and 2 utility vehicles. We run approximately 1,600-1,800 calls a year and provide ALS service to the neighboring district (Cowlitz County Fire District 3).

Job Description

The firefighter/paramedic position is a career position represented by a collective bargaining unit.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Respond to fires, medical emergencies, hazardous materials incidents, rescues, and other emergency and non-emergency calls
  • Perform advance life support (ALS)
  • Participate in ongoing training, public education, and fire prevention efforts
  • Maintain equipment, apparatus, and facilities to department standards
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure community and firefighter safety
