Proudly serving the Cities of Spokane Valley, Liberty Lake, Millwood, and parts of unincorporated Spokane County, including the communities of Otis Orchards, Pasadena Park, and the area surrounding Liberty Lake. SVFD provides the following services: Fire Suppression, Emergency Medical Services, Technical Rescue, Vehicle Extrication, Hazardous Materials Response, Swift Water Rescue, Fire Investigations, Fire Prevention, Commercial Property Inspections, CPR and Fire Safety Training. SVFD has an overall Washington Survey and Rating Bureau (WSRB formerly ISO rating) of 2. Our service area includes the City of Spokane Valley, City of Liberty Lake, the City of Millwood, unincorporated areas with a combined population of 125,000 and an area of 75 square miles. Within our response area there are 43,000 homes, 1 major hospital, 4,500 businesses, 20 nursing homes, 53 schools, Union Pacific/Burlington-Santa Fe railroad, Interstate 90 and approximately 13 miles of the Spokane River. The Department has 10 stations, a Training Center with a burn tower and a Maintenance facility. The Administration Office is located at 2120 N. Wilbur, housing the Prevention Bureau, Chiefs' offices, and support staff. SVFD employs 180 personnel composed of 163 uniformed personnel, 16 civilian employees, and our Arson Dog, Mako.

Other If offered employment you will be required to meet the required occupational qualifications:
Must be a non-user of any tobacco products during employment hours (if employed after January 2004).
Must be a non-user of any tobacco products if employed after 01/01/2008.
Must have the ability to use deductive reasoning in critical situation.
Must have the ability to remain calm in stressful and/or demanding situations.
Must pass physical and psychological exams as required by the Fire Chief.
Must have the physical ability to perform work that is stressful, strenuous and very heavy in nature and often performed in hazardous environments. It occasionally requires lifting of equipment and loads in excess of 100 pounds with frequent lifting and/or carrying equipment or loads weighing up to 100 pounds. Must be able to manipulate heavy loads with their arms and legs, carry equipment and loads up stairs and ladders, pull equipment and loads upward and downward with ropes and manipulate tools with their hands and fingers. Must be able to see, hear, smell, and sometimes feel hazards around themselves as well as be able to clearly verbalize those hazards to others.
Must maintain the department's minimum training and performance standards.

Applicants DO NOT need EMT-B Certification in order to apply.
