Testing in Wyoming

 

Thank you for your interest in testing for the Wyoming Highway Patrol! 

Please read through the following information on how to take your Public Safety Test and start your hiring process with WHP. 

 


 

Wyoming Highway Patrol Process:

 1. Complete your written examination & Personal History Statement with Public Safety Testing.You may test anytime between now and May 24, 2019. The DEADLINE to complete your PST written exam for the next hiring cycle is May 24, 2019.

2. Wyoming Highway Patrol requires you to also complete an online application process (separate from the PST exam) before your testing scores and application will be considered.  You can access that application by clicking the following links: Trooper I (Entry), Trooper II (Lateral). You may complete the Wyoming online application before or after you complete your PST written exam. 

3. WHP will conduct additional agency testing in Cheyenne, WY on May 29-31, 2019. These dates are for your planning purposes. Your PST written exam must be completed by May 24, 2019. 

  • Day 1 is the physical ability test.
  • Day 2 is the interview
  • Day 3 is polygraph exam or equivalent and psychological evaluation

 

 

Signing up for a PST exam:

You may sign up for test events available on our Test and Event Calendar. There are regularly scheduled test events on our calendar at college testing centers around Wyoming. The current schedule is listed below:

 

1. Gillette College, Gillette - Testing every third Friday of the month.

2. Northwest College, Cody - Testing every first Monday of the month.

3. Laramie County Comm. College, Cheyenne - Testing every second Saturday of the month.

4. Casper College, Casper - Testing every last Wednesday of the month. 

5. Coming soon:

  • Central Wyoming College, Lander
  • Western Wyoming College, Green River
  • Sheridan College, Sheridan
  • Eastern Wyoming College, Torrington
  • Central Wyoming College, Jackson

 

 

Option #2:

If you are unable to attend one of our regularly scheduled test events, you may be eligible to take the exam through the NTCA network of college testing centers in Wyoming. Please be advised that this process may take up to 5 days to complete prior to taking your exam. 

Please follow the below steps for information on how to register using this process:

Step 1: Choose a testing center available in Wyoming from this website:  https://ncta.memberclicks.net/find-a-cctc-participant

Step 2: Schedule a time with that testing center to take the exam. Please be advised that you will need to pay for the college testing fee separate from your test registration fee. 

Step 3: Fill out the Candidate Test Request to notify PST of your desire to schedule an exam (AFTER you have scheduled with a Testing Center).

- Once fully complete, you will receive an email from PST within 2 business days with instructions on how to register and pay for your written exam on www.publicsafetytesting.com. You need to pay and register before PST can send any testing materials to your testing center.

- If you have not received an email within 2 business days of submitting the form, please contact oos@publicsafetytesting.com.

Step 4:  Ensure you bring your notarized Applicant Liability Waiver Form with you on the day of your exam and give this paperwork to the Testing Center. Notary will not be available at the Testing Center. 

 

Option #3:

Candidates interested in taking the PST written exam outside of Wyoming and Washington states may take the written exam through a network of college testing centers.  Please click HERE for additional information and instructions.  Please be advised that this process requires a 2-week turnaround period to schedule testing.
