The Duvall Police Department serves a population of about 7,183 people. We are one of the fastest growing communities in the state. We are small, yet diverse and rich in history and tradition. Our residents represent many walks of life and represent an exciting cross-section of occupations and cultures.
Duvall is located on SR-203, approximately 25 miles northeast of Seattle, halfway between Monroe and Carnation, and is fast becoming a favorite residential community for both commuters and for those who choose to conduct business in a small town setting.
The City of Duvall was incorporated in 1913 under the Mayor-Council form of government and currently provides a full range of services, including police, public works, planning, building, and some recreational services to include some of the nicest parks in the valley. The City of Duvall has over fifty (50) employees, from all walks of life.
The Police Department provides services to the City of Duvall and contract services to the City of Carnation for the protection of persons and property, with a strong emphasis in community policing. These services include general law and traffic enforcement, criminal investigations, DARE, and emergency service coordination and support. The Department currently has 14 Commissioned Police Officers and one Police Clerk. (MEMBER of CSPA)

Base Salary: $5,068 - $6,836 per month.
Maximum with incentives: $7,834 per month.
Medical, dental, vision and orthodontics for employee (100%) and family (employee pays $100.00); $100,000 life insurance plan; VEBA account with $1500 (2019) and $750 (2020).
Vacation ranges from 85-200 hours a year. 96 hours annual sick leave; 120 hours Kelly time; 10 paid holidays paid double time and a half if working that day; 2 personal days off.
Education incentive pay; $100 per month with AA Degree, $225 per month with BA/BS Degree.
Basic certification incentive; $200 per month; Intermediate $500 per month.
Take home patrol vehicle during work week and physical training time while on duty.
Longevity 1%-4%; Instructor stipend, $2500 longevity/retention at 5 years of continuous employment.
12 hour shifts with 4 days on and 4 days off.
All equipment provided including firearms, jumpsuits and tac vest.

TESTING IN WASHINGTON STATE CANCELED THROUGH MAY 31, 2020
All pre-employment tests in Washington State have been canceled until May 31, 2020 unless government restrictions are eased. With recent updates, facility closures, and government guidelines, this step is necessary and could be modified at any time. The health and safety of our customers, our staff, and their families is of the highest priority.
We will continue to evaluate developments and make changes to this policy as necessary. When we do resume testing, there will be plenty of events for everyone to test. We are in regular communication with our public safety agency partners, assessing alternatives to the traditional testing model and our testing policies. Any future updates will be posted on the PST website and our Facebook page.
If you have tested with PST in the past 12 months, there may be additional positions you are now eligible to add. Several departments have temporarily changed their testing policies due to the suspension in testing that COVID-19 has caused. Please login to your PST account and navigate to the ‘New Positions’ page to see what departments you can add! We will regularly update that page in your account as departments send updates.
FUTURE TEST REGISTRATION
We know that there will be testing in the future - we just don’t know when! We want you to be prepared for when testing begins again so we have created test events on our calendar that you can register for that will place you in a queue to be first notified. These tests are not “real” test events, they are essentially a holding area. You will be able to “reschedule” out of that event to any other event date/location at no cost. Registering now will also give you time to work on your Personal History Statement (PHS) so that your data will be ready and up-to-date to send to your departments once testing resumes.
