Department Information

SNOCOM is a regional emergency dispatch center for police, fire and medical calls within Southwest Snohomish County. It is a product of an interlocal agreement between local jurisdictions, including the cities of Brier, Edmonds, Lynnwood, Mill Creek, Mountlake Terrace, Mukilteo, Woodway and Fire District 1. These member agencies rely on SNOCOM to receive calls from their residents and to dispatch the appropriate emergency responder. SNOCOM is governed by a Board of Directors made up of elected and non-elected representatives of its member agencies. SNOCOM does not have taxing authority of its own and is funded entirely by member assessments.

SNOCOM’s day-to-day operations are managed by an Executive Director, 2 Operations Managers and an Information Technology Manager. SNOCOM employs 28 dispatchers and 5 dispatch supervisors. Together, this group of employees and support staff operate the agency, which functions 24 hours a day, seven days a week and 365 days a year.

SNOCOM is part of a large scale county-wide public safety technology project currently underway in Snohomish County for a joint CAD (computer aided dispatch) and RMS (records management system) shared database. This project will replace 20 year old, outdated, public safety technology. The project involves 52 agencies at a cost of just under $8 million dollars.
