Community Information

The City of Pasco is located at the confluence of the Columbia, Yakima, and Snake Rivers and is, therefore, a gateway to the agriculturally rich Columbia Basin. Pasco enjoys great weather, with nearly 300 days of sunshine throughout the year. This wonderful weather, combined with the area's waterways enables residents and visitors to enjoy many outdoor activites from water sports, golf, wine touring to outdoor theater.

Department Information

The City of Pasco continues to be one of the fastest growing communities in Washington State with a population of 70,000 people. The Police Department strives to provide unparalleled service. This is accomplished by following a community policing philosophy that is based on partnerships with the community to provide a safer and better quality of life while reducing the fear of crime. Officers work closely with citizens to build on those partnerships as well as to develop and maintain the highest level of trust. 

The Police Department's staff of 71 commissioned officers and 10 support staff are responsible for police services to over 36 square miles. We have specialty assignments that include Detective, Canine, School Resource Officer, SWAT, Street Crimes Unit and Drug Task Force officers.

The department offers non-traditional work schedules such as, patrol with a 10 hour 40 minute work day (average 15 days per month) and detective schedule of 4-10 hour days per week. As well as many opportunities for specialized training and career development as instructors, DRE's and promotional opportunities. We provide state of the act equipment with advanced technology. 

Commissioned officers are assigned to the partner car program.

$31.35/hour ($65,208 annually) entry Level - top Step $38.10/hour ($79,248 annually).

Plus education incentive AA 3% - 5%, BA 6% - 10%
