Community Information

The City of Omak is located in north central Washington, 45 miles south of the Canadian border. The City is located on both sides of the Okanogan River, which serves as the western boundary of the Colville Confederated Tribes Reservation. Omak is the largest community in the County with 4 4835 residents, and serves as a commercial shopping hub for 30,000 county residents. Omak’s economic foundation is supported by a Wal-Mart Super Store, Home Depot and Big R Store North 40 Outfitters; numerous retail and restaurant services; and a strong downtown retail core. There are healthy county-wide agricultural and cattle industries; central governmental services with the County seat nearby, and an expanding economy supported by continued development and growth. There are several health and medical services providing benefits to local residents, and a newly renovated hospital. In a valley surrounded by mountains, the Omak area is well known for its variety of year-round outdoor activities and near-by lakes.

Department Information

The Police Department is made up of eleven commissioned police officers, one code enforcement officer, and two office staff. The primary mission of the Omak Police Department is to coordinate and lead the efforts within the community to preserve the public peace, protect the rights of persons and property, prevent crime and generally provide assistance to citizens in urgent situations. The Department is responsible for the enforcement of all federal laws, Washington State laws, and city ordinances within the boundaries of the City of Omak.
