Community Information

The City of Ocean Shores is approximately 75 miles west of Olympia, Washington and is located on Washington’s central Pacific Coast in Grays Harbor County. The City is approximately 9 square miles and has 6 miles of sandy beaches and 23 miles of interconnecting freshwater lakes and canals. Outdoor opportunities abound in Grays Harbor such as golfing, fishing, hunting, hiking, camping or just spending time on the beach. Ocean Shores has nearly 6000 full time residents and experiences about 3 million visitors a year. Ocean Shores was developed in the 1960’s and continues to be Washington's most visited seaside destination.

Department Information

The Ocean Shores Fire Department is a progressive department dedicated to the safety of the people we serve.  We provide services in fire suppression, emergency medical services (ALS), rescue services, fire prevention, hazardous materials, public education, and disaster mitigation.  We are a combination career/volunteer department.  Ocean Shores Fire Department provides service for the City of Ocean Shores and the North Beach area.  We currently have 4 ambulances, 3 engines, 1 ladder truck, and 2 brush trucks. We respond out of two fire stations with our duty crews working A,B,C shifts on a 48/96 schedule.  The Ocean Shores Fire Department ran 2201 calls in 2015 and averages 6 alarms per day in 2016.

Current Hiring Status

The Ocean Shores Fire Department is currently accepting applications to establish an eligibility list for the position of Firefighter/Paramedic.

All interested candidates should have their testing and CPAT completed by the 30th of April as the Ocean Shores Fire Department will draw its list from PST on May 1, 2017.

 

 

Salary Information

Starting salary: Will be based from the current bargaining agreement between the City of Ocean Shores and IAFF 2109. At the time of posting, the current starting salary is $5,093 per month.
