Community Information

The City of Lake Stevens is located east of Everett on Lake Stevens, the largest lake in Snohomish County. This waterfront community has a population of approximately 30,900 and growing rapidly. Outside the city is the county’s largest urban growth area with an additional 30,000 people.

Department Information

The Lake Stevens Police Department prides itself as a model agency for other departments to emulate. Currently there are 26 authorized commissioned officers. The support staff is currently authorized at a full-time records manager, records supervisor and 5 Police Records Clerks.  Many opportunities exist to develop expertise in specialized areas of law enforcement such as investigations, marine/boating patrol, and school resource officer.

The eligibility list is a continuous listing and maintained as scores are received from PST with oral board interviews conducted on an as-needed basis. Vacancies are filled per Civil Service "rule of five" with five more names than there are vacancies to be filled forwarded to the Chief of Police for background investigation & selection.
