Community Information

The City of Lake Stevens is located east of Everett on Lake Stevens, the largest lake in Snohomish County. This waterfront community has a population of approximately 30,900 and growing rapidly. Outside the city is the county’s largest urban growth area with an additional 30,000 people.

Department Information

The Lake Stevens Police Department prides itself as a model agency for other departments to emulate. Currently there are 31 commissioned staff: Police Chief, two Commanders, five Sergeants, twenty-three Police Officers.

The police support team is comprised of one Administrative Manager, one Records Supervisor, four Records Clerks, one Records/Evidence Specialist, and one Police Support Officer. 

Many opportunities exist to develop expertise in specialized areas of law enforcement such as investigations, marine/boating patrol, and School Resource Officer.

We are currently hiring to fill one vacant position.  

Candidates who pass the written exam and physical ability test may be invited to participate in an oral board. The number of candidates invited to participate may vary.  Applicants who pass the oral board are placed on an Eligibility List.  When a vacancy exists, the Civil Service "Rule of Five" applies - the Chief of Police may select from any of the top five scoring candidates on the Eligibility List.

Salary Information

2019:  $5,782 - $7,435 per month, depending on qualifications

Education pay:
2% for Associate's degree
4% for Bachelor's degree

2.50% = 10 Years of Service

4.75% = 20 years of Service
