The City of Battle Ground is a residential community located in Clark County, approximately 20 miles northeast of Vancouver, WA. The residents have easy access to the Portland-Vancouver metro area amenities. Battle Ground is a fast growing city with an active business community to serve their residents and visitors. Within a time frame of 30 minutes to 1.5 hours you can drive to the ocean beaches or savor the activities available at Mt. Hood, Mt. St. Helens or the Columbia River Gorge.

Department Information

The Battle Ground Police Department is a full-service, community-based law enforcement agency that consists of 29 sworn and professional staff members who are committed to providing the highest possible level of service to our community. Sworn positions include Uniform Patrol Operations, the Detective Division,  a K-9 team, the Traffic Unit, a School Resource Officer, and assignments to the Southwest Regional SWAT Team. The department’s professional staff includes an Administrative Team. The department’s professional staff includes an Administrative Assistant, the Records Unit, a Property Evidence Technician.

Our mission is to provide the highest level of police services while working in partnership with our community to find solutions to crime and quality of life issues.

The City of Battle Ground offers a benefit package that includes:

Ninety-six (96) hours annual leave to start.
Twelve (12) paid holidays computed at the time and one half pay rate. A yearly check is paid to each officer every November.
LEOFF retirement benefits.
Medical, dental and vision packages for employees and their family members.
The City provides all uniforms and equipment for officers, including vest, boots and weapon.
The City provides a $10,000 life insurance policy and a double indemnity for accidental death.
Educational incentive pay for Associate Degree (1%) and Bachelor Degree (3%).
Specialty pay (3%) if assigned to K-9, Detective, or School Resource Officer.
