Arlington is a growing community that is located approximately 20 miles north of Everett and along the I-5 corridor in North Snohomish County. The City serves a population of over 18,000 and is primarily suburban and rural residential with supporting retail and commercial enterprises. Light industrial and manufacturing business are located in the central portions of the City around the City-owned Arlington Airport. Arlington is home to the popular event the Arlington Fly-In every July as well as having access to the Stillaguamish River, Centennial Trail, and many other parks and outdoor activities.
The Arlington Police Department is a State Accredited agency. Composed of 27 commissioned officers, 2 reserve officers and 6 civilian employees, the police department protects and serves the public and property within the City limits by maintaining law and order, deterring and preventing crime, and apprehending criminals. The community experiences crimes typically seen in more densely populated cities. Therefore, officers are handling a wide variety of complex calls and investigations that are typical of larger departments. Pay, benefits, equipment, training, and leadership are all excellent.
GREAT SCHEDULE: The majority of officers are on one of two patrol teams. The patrol teams work a 12-hour schedule that is patterned in such a way that every officer has every other weekend off as a three-day weekend.
MORE OPPORTUNITIES FOR SPECIALTY ASSIGNMENTS: Full-time opportunities for officers, with up to 4% incentive pay, include: four Sergeants, two Detectives, one Detective Sergeant, two Airport Resource Officers/Canine Officers with drug detection dogs, one Traffic Enforcement Officer, and one School Resource Officer.
Optional collateral duties, with up to 4% incentive pay, include Field Training Officer, Rangemaster, EVOC Instructor, Defensive Tactics Instructor, Skills Instructor, Crisis Intervention Team, Honor Guard, Explorer Post Advisor, Peer Support Team, and Reserve Officer Advisor.

Test results are kept on file and valid until their expiration date. Oral boards are scheduled when the current eligibility list expires. Vacancies are filled by Civil Service "rule of five" with the top three candidates scheduled for Chief's interview; background investigation and medical, physical and psychological examinations may be scheduled.

The above DOES NOT INCLUDE ADDITIONAL MONTHLY COMPENSATION FOR a college degree, longevity and specialty assignments. College Degree Incentive is 2% for an Associates, 4% for a Bachelors Degree and 6% for a Masters Degree. Longevity is 2% for 6 years of Service, 4% for 9 years of Service, 6% for 12 years of Service and 8% for 18 years of Service.

Employee: Employer pays 86% of premium for medical insurance, and 100% for dental, vision, employee assistance program, long-term disability, group life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment insurance.
Eligible dependents: Employer pays 86% of premium for medical and 100% of premiums for dental and vision.

Uniforms and equipment provided by Employer on a Quartermaster System. Dry cleaning is provided by the city. However, per the current CBA Detective are given a $1000 uniform allowance per year.
