Community Information

Many rural communities make up Skamania County. Our service area, totaling 1,672 square miles, covers the communities of upper Washougal, Skamania, Stevenson, Carson, Home Valley, Underwood and other unincorporated areas.

Skamania County, in the heart of the Columbia River Gorge, features some of the most scenic and rugged landscape in the state. Located in southwest Washington, the county seat (Stevenson) is forty-five minutes east of the Portland/Vancouver metropolitan area.

Department Information

Skamania County EMS leads the county in emergency response and provides essential services to preserve and benefit the health, safety and welfare of our unique communities. The agency provides 24/7 emergency medical services, vehicle, rope and trail rescue services to citizens and visitors. We average 1,500 calls per year with 900 approximate transports.

Current Hiring Status

Skamania EMS may or may not use an eligibility list to fill vacant positions. Solicitations will clearly describe the purpose of hiring (e.g. to establish an eligibility list or fill a position with immediate need.) Eligibility lists are established following receipt of scores from PST and completion of applicable Physical Agility Tests. Eligibility lists are maintained for a period of twelve (12) - eighteen (18) months and oral boards are completed on an as-needed basis. Candidates are forwarded to the appointing authority for background investigations and selections as vacancies occur.

Salary Information

Full Time: $49,905 - $70,374 (Annually)
Part Time: $13.50 - $18.09 (Hourly)
Volunteers and Residents: Stipend, Per Policy
