The City of Ocean Shores, Washington is 1 ½ hours west of Olympia, Washington and is located right on the ocean. Ocean Shores is nationally known for having an excellent atmosphere for relaxation, maintaining an exceptional quality of life, a low crime rate, and a fantastic area for fishing and hunting. The City is approximately 9 square miles and has 6 miles of beachfront and 26 miles of interconnected freshwater lakes and canals. Ocean Shores has approximately 6000 full time residents and experiences nearly 5 million visitors annually.
Ocean Shores Fire Department serves 6,000+ full time residents and five million annual visitors, providing all hazard response including; fire suppression, prevention, and emergency medical services over an area of approximately 12.4 square miles. The OSFD has an annual operating budget of $3.1 million and is staffed with a Fire Chief, Administrative
Assistant, Fire Inspector, 18 career staff, and approximately 5 volunteers.
The department operates through a central County wide 911 dispatch center. The Fire Department operates 4 paramedic units, 3 fire engines, 1 ladder truck, 2 brush engines, 1 rescue Humvee, and 1 support vehicle. These units are based out of 2 stations, one located at the south end of town and the main station centrally located near downtown.
The Department is an ALS transporting agency working under the Grays Harbor County Medical Program Director. In 2018, OSFD responded to 2306 alarms with 85% of calls EMS related and 15% fire related. The OSFD has an automatic aid agreement and ambulance services agreement with its neigh- boring Fire District to the north, Grays Harbor District #7.

$5,496- $6,680 per month (depending on qualifications)
Schedule 48/96
Uniforms/Equipment: Initial uniforms / safety equipment provided; clothing allowance of $500 per year.
Medical/Dental/Vision: 92% Paid Premiums by the City of Ocean Shores; 8% Employee Contribution up to $120/month
Paid Holidays: Employee receives a check once per year for 11 holidays at twelve (12) hours of straight time.
Kelly Days: 24 hours of Kelly Time for each twenty-seven day work cycle to meet FLSA requirements.
Sick leave: 12 hours per month.
Vacation: 12 hours per month first 24 months; thereafter on an increasing scale.
Longevity Pay: 1.5% after 5 years; thereafter on an increasing scale every 5 years.
Retirement through Washington State LEOFF II.
$75.00 / mo. contribution to the Medical Expense Reimbursement Plan hosted by the Washington State.
