KCSO's 1150 employees (750 commissioned, 400 non-commissioned) function under four core values: leadership, integrity, service and teamwork. We are a full-service law enforcement agency for unincorporated King County, 12 cities and towns, the local and regional transit systems and the King County Airport. Marshals currently work at any of the following: King County Courthouse, Youth Services Center, Harborview Mental Health Court, Regional Justice Center (Kent), Office of Public Defender and the King County Veteran's Program.

- Must have at least 2 years of recent work experience as a full-time commissioned police officer (recent means within the last 5 years)

- Must have 4 years of continuous service and currently serving as a reserve police officer with qualification standards and work duties similar to the King County Sheriff's Office.

• Use of any other illegal drug, including steroids, within the last five (5) years
• Illegal use of four (4) or more different controlled substances, including marijuana, in the last ten (10) years
• Any instance of manufacturing or cultivating illegal drugs for the purpose of sale or distribution
• Use of any illegal drugs while employed in a criminal justice capacity
• Obtaining a prescription under false pretenses

• All criminal activity not listed as an automatic disqualification, whether discovered or not, will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Any solicitation, or pattern of solicitation of prostitute(s). Any juvenile convictions (felony or misdemeanor).

Driving
• 2 or more at fault collisions within the last 5 years.
• 3 or more moving violations within the last 5 years.
• Driving While License Suspended or Revoked.

Military
• Any discharge from any military service under other than honorable circumstances.

Law Enforcement Certification
• Any suspension, revocation, or denial of a Law Enforcement certificate (CJTC/POST) in any state.

Current Hiring Status

The eligibility list is a continuous listing and maintained as scores are received from PST with oral board interviews conducted on a monthly basis. Those certified on the Civil Service eligibility list will be forwarded to the appointing authority for background investigation and selection as vacancies occur.

$62,112.48 - $68,293.20 annually based on a five-step system (initial hire rate + four increases based on hire date).
