Community Information

The City of Ocean Shores is approximately 75 miles west of Olympia, Washington and is located on Washington’s central Pacific Coast in Grays Harbor County. The City is approximately 9 square miles and has 6 miles of sandy beaches and 23 miles of interconnecting freshwater lakes and canals. Outdoor opportunities abound in Grays Harbor such as golfing, fishing, hunting, hiking, camping or just spending time on the beach. Ocean Shores has nearly 6000 full time residents and experiences about 3 million visitors a year. Ocean Shores was developed in the 1960’s and continues to be Washington's most visited seaside destination.

Department Information

The Ocean Shores Police Department is a proactive, professional organization that prides itself on its interaction and support within the community. The department currently consists of a Chief of Police, three Sergeants, eight Patrol Officers, and one Records Clerk. Dispatch is accomplished in a regional setting. Patrol Officers work rotating shifts with a 12-hour shift plan. Rotation is every four months. The department operates under a department wide community policing philosophy with neighborhood watch presentations. Specialized assignments are available on the Fresh Waterways Marine Patrol, Detective, and as a FTO. The Department utilizes 4 wheel drive vehicles and has a take home patrol car program.

All interested candidates should have their written and PFAT completed by March 19, 2018 as the Ocean Shores Police Department will draw its list from PST on March 20, 2018. The top twenty (20) candidates for Lateral Police Officer with a Written Test score of 70% or higher will be invited to attend an Oral Board Interview. Oral Board Interviews will be held March 27, 2018.
