Important Information

The City of Tigard will accept applications from candidates who have not yet passed a physical abilities test or ORPAT.  Candidates may provide proof of successfully completing an ORPAT within the prior 12 months when submitting documentation directly to the department.  Applicants who have not passed the ORPAT within the previous 12 months will be required to pass the ORPAT prior to appointment and an opportunity to do so will be provided.  The City of Tigard will provide instructions on how to provide proof of a passing ORPAT after you complete your PST testing. All applicants with passing LST test scores will be invited by the City to submit a supplemental application and schedule an oral board interview. 


Applicants may submit proof of passing the ORPAT by uploading their ORPAT completion certificate through the online application process once invited to do so.

Hiring Status

The eligibility list is a continuous listing and maintained as scores are received from PST with oral board interviews conducted on a monthly or quarterly basis. Applicants with passing test scores of will be invited to submit a supplemental application as and participate in the next scheduled oral board.


Salary Information

$66,620 – $83,005 annually (base pay)

Additional pay incentives are available for those holding 2- or 4-year college degrees, those holding intermediate or advanced certifications from Oregon's DPSST, those who have a working fluency in Spanish, and for those assigned to a variety of specialty assignments.  Please refer to our police union's collective bargaining agreement for additional details:
