Community Information

Thurston County is located at the southern end of the Puget Sound in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. Over 265,000 residents call Thurston County home, where mild winters and warm summers provide an abundance of outdoor recreation activities. Mount Rainier and the Cascade mountains are nearby to the east, while the Pacific coast is just an hour’s drive away to the west. Thurston County is also strategically located between Seattle and Portland, which are both easily accessible along the I-5 corridor. Home to Washington’s state capital and the cities of Olympia, Lacey and Tumwater, the area has two major medical complexes including a regional trauma center, a working deep water Port, and a historic downtown shopping area. Rural living is not far away for those preferring the smaller settings of Yelm, Tenino, Rainier and Bucoda. Thurston County has it all - fresh and salt water, clean air, affordable housing, and excellent K-12 public schools.
