Community Information

Everett is the largest city in Snohomish County, as well as the economic, financial, governmental, medical, communication and cultural center of the County. The current population is approximately 105,000. Everett is located 26 miles north of Seattle in one of the most desirable regions in the United States. Everett is the home of Boeing wide-body commercial airplane manufacturing as well as a variety of high-tech enterprises. The Port Gardner waterfront is the home-port of the Navy aircraft carrier USS Nimitz, contains the second largest marina on the west coast, and is the site of a significant waterfront condominium project in the early stages of development. Everett is a beautiful city with many recreational opportunities and great place to live, to work, and to raise a family.

Department Information

The City of Everett employs 7 Engine Companies (1 swing engine), 2 Ladder Companies (1 swing ladder), 3 Medic units, and 1 aid when staffing allows. There are six (6) fire stations located throughout the city. There are 165 uniformed firefighters employed. In 2015 the Department was dispatched to approximately 18,000 EMS incidents and over 4,000 other incidents.

Other Hiring offers are contingent upon successful completion of a CPAT, LEOFF medical evaluation, and medical history review, which includes drug testing, and a psychological evaluation is a condition of employment. Union membership is required within 30 days of hire.

(2) Attainment of the age of 21 years by closing date.

(4) Excellent physical condition.
(5) Ability and willingness to successfully complete the mandated course of instruction at the Washington State Fire Academy and subsequent department field training programs.
(6) Ability and willingness to obtain Washington State Department of Social and Health Services certification as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) within two (2) years of employment and maintain such certification for the duration of employment.
(7) Submission to a thorough background check; psychological, physical, and medical check; employment reference check; and verification of all applicable certifications.
(8) Attainment of Department standards of physical condition.
(9) Possession of, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire, a Washington State Driver License and maintain such license for the duration of employment.
CPAT Candidates must successfully pass the Public Safety Testing CPAT between July 14, 2016 and January 14, 2017 to be eligible for this round of hiring. CPAT certifications from other fire departments or testing centers will not be accepted. X
