Ridgefield, recently ranked #4 for ”Cities on the Edge of Greatness,” is a small bedroom community 14 miles North of Vancouver, WA. whose heritage is deeply connected to the water and the land. As the Gateway to the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge, and a key entry point to the Columbia River, we offer unparalleled access to prime examples of the Northwest Lifestyle. With a city population of 8000 and 20,000 total outlying population , the community has unique offerings from our local merchants, artisans, wineries and companies supporting commerce and industry throughout the Northwest and beyond.
The Ridgefield Police Department currently provides 24 hour, 7 day a week, 365 day coverage through its budgeted staff of seven police officers, two Sergeants, one Lieutenant and the Chief of Police. Calls for emergency service are dispatched to officers in the field by the Clark Regional Emergency Services Agency (CRESA) over an 800 MHZ radio system. The Officers work four 11-hour consecutive shifts with four days off, with one extra day of training every other month. They rotate shifts between day, swing and graveyard every six months. Traffic safety is an important goal to keep our citizens safe while driving on the public roadways and is aggressively enforced. The department is fortunate to experience a good working relationship with residents and the local business community, and continues to further strengthen those relationships through the implementation of neighborhood programs and community partnerships. Our officers also receive college incentive pay and have take home vehicles.
