The City of Lynnwood is conveniently located just 15 miles north of Seattle. A community of approximately 36,000 covering an area of 7.86 square miles, Lynnwood serves as the commercial heart of South Snohomish County. Within the Lynnwood Police Department is a Detention Division, which operates the Lynnwood Municipal Jail. The jail is classified as a 46 bed holding facility and incarcerates misdemeanor offenders only. The average daily population is 40 offenders. The Detention Division employs 2 Confinement Sergeants, 12 Confinement Officers, and 1 EHD Officer. Officers have ample opportunities for training and advancement.

Salary Information

The salary range is $30.48 - $34.38 per hour.

Benefit Information

Additional pays include:

Longevity: 2% of straight time wage after 5th year, 3% of straight time wage after 10th year, 5% of straight time wage after 15th year, and 7% of straight time wage after 20th year.

Overtime at time and a half paid for work in excess of scheduled hours, court time or call-backs.

Eleven paid holidays and one floating holiday per year. Paid vacation of 80 hours (after one year) to 210 hours (after 20 years) annually.

Shift Schedules:
12 hour shift schedule - three days on, three days off.

Participation in the State of Washington PSERS Retirement System.

ICMA Deferred Compensation Program.

Annual sick leave allowance as provided by State Statute (RCW 41.26), accrued at the rate of eight hours per month.

Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance coverage provided. 100% of the employee medical, dental, vision and life insurance premiums are paid for by the City of Lynnwood and 90% of dependent medical and dental premiums are paid for by the City.

Bereavement/emergency leave program.

Uniforms and equipment provided and maintained by the City with monthly clothing cleaning allowance.
