Although Washington’s recreating public tends to have the most contact with our Officers, Fish and Wildlife Police Officers are deployed statewide in both rural and urban areas to enforce all Washington State laws (including criminal code, traffic laws, etc.), fish and wildlife regulations, and specific federal laws.

"PROTECTING OUR NATURAL RESOURCES AND THE PUBLIC WE SERVE"

The mission of the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife Police is to protect our natural resources and the public we serve. We currently have approximately 140 Fish and Wildlife Police Officers (FWOs) deployed statewide, in both marine and land-based duty stations, to meet this mission.

 

Our Officers are fully commissioned, general-authority peace officers who enforce all Washington State laws (including criminal code, traffic laws, etc.), fish and wildlife regulations, and specific federal regulations.

Current Hiring Status

Hiring Status as of 8/14/2018:

We will review lateral applicant packets as we receive them during 2018 and schedule interviews accordingly. To be eligible for the for hiring, candidates must complete the PST written test, physical ability test, and personal history statement.

We currently have several openings across Washington State.

We have dropped the college requirement for lateral candidates!

  • Lateral candidates must have at least three years of full time law enforcement experience and a current CJTC commission or equivalent.

    Starting salary for a lateral officer is from $4596 - $6038/month.
