    Ocean Shores is a 6,000 acre peninsula located on Washington's central Pacific coast approximately 75 miles west of Olympia. The peninsula's western shoreline offers six miles of sandy beaches. The city also enjoys 23 miles of interconnecting lakes and canals which offer year round boating and exceptional fishing opportunites. Ocean Shores was developed in 1960 and continues to be Washington's most visited seaside destination. The Ocean Shores Fire Department is a progressive department dedicated to the welfare of the people we serve and to each other. We provide services in fire suppression, emergency medical services, (advanced life support), rescue services, fire prevention, hazardous materials, public education, disaster mitigation, and participate with the Surf Rescue and Dive Teams. We are a combination career/volunteer department. Area coverage is 161 square miles which includes Fire District 7 and 16. We currently have 4 ambulances, 3 pump engines, 1 ladder truck , and 1 brush truck. We moved into our new facility in November 2009. The Ocean Shores Fire Department ran 2116 calls in 2009.

    The eligibility list is a continuous listing and maintained as scores are received from PST with oral board interviews conducted on an as-needed basis. Vacancies are filled by Civil Service "rule of three" with the top three candidates forwarded to the appointing authority for background investigation & selection as vacancies occur.
