    Lakewood was incorporated in February 1996. Lakewood is conveniently located along Interstate 5 south of Tacoma and right next to McChord Air Force Base and Fort Lewis.     SALARY INFORMATIONBENEFIT INFORMATION
    2010 Salary Range is $4,643 - $5,862 per month. Salary can be enhanced by Professional Development Pay, including: education, foreign language, residency, specialty assignments, and the Master Police Officer (MPO) program. Officers are covered by the current 2010 collective bargaining agreement with the Lakewood Police Independent Guild. The City provides an excellent benefit package with two medical providers to choose from, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance coverages. Annually, employees receive: 10 paid holidays; 144 hours of combination leave, increasing based on longevity; and 64 hours of major medical leave. Employees have LEOFF 2 retirement benefits through the Washington State Department of Retirement Systems, and are covered under a qualified 401(a) retirement plan in lieu of Social Security. In addition, there are various optional benefits available, including 457 deferred compensation plans with a 3% match.
