Department Information

The Camas Police Department currently has 30 sworn police officers who are committed to protecting our community. Specialty positions include: Detectives, Field Training Officer, School Resource Officer, SWAT, and Honor Guard.

The Department motto is "No Call Too Small." Camas officers take pride in the level of service they are able to provide the community and in their performance, especially:

• Proactively seeking out criminal activity.

• Aggressively pursuing traffic complaints and concerns.

• DUI enforcement.

• As well as the myriad of service calls that we respond to from the unlocking of automobiles, to helping you find your missing dog.

The eligibility list is a continuous listing and maintained as scores are received from PST with oral board interviews conducted on an as-needed basis. Vacancies are filled by Civil Service "rule of ten".

Salary Information

HIRING BONUS: Entry Level $10,000 - Lateral $30,000

PAY: Salary: $85k - 102k (2023)

Financial incentives include;

1% for AA Degree

3% for a BA Degree

1% Accreditation Premium

4.5%-6.5% Master Patrol Officer (after 6 years of service)

1.5% Premium (for some designated positions/assignments)

5% Premium for Detective Assignments

Matching Deferred Compensation 2% (2022) 3% (2023)

Benefit Information

The City has a complete benefit package that includes: medical, dental, and vision coverage for the full family, life insurance,employee assistance program, pension with the Washington State LEOFF system,vacation, sick leave, and paid holidays.

In addition, employees receive 148 hours annually in lieu of holidays, which can either be used as additional time off, or can be cashed out. This is separate from normal vacation and sick time accruals.
